Travelling into the Night

Night transforms the city. People, colours, smells, everything changes after sunset. The city is not only a geographic space but also a group of homes, languages and feelings which not always treat its citizens equally. The dark and insecure spots of the city at night change the routes and the ways of understanding and moving around it, depending on the gender, race, age or even sexuality. The city is not the same.

Within this context our ‘journeys to the inside of the night’ seek to highlight, transform and celebrate in this spaces, with their citizens to legitimate themas safe accessible locations, keeping in mind that it’s needed very little to experience them in a very different way. Our journeys were divided in three parts:

1.- LANDING: We get to the site in question and analyse its problems. Then invite neighbours so they can transmit their needs and worries about the place to us.

2.- TRANSFORM: ¡We take action! Through micro-actions and a low-cost intervention, we change the place to convert it into a more pleasant space, an urban salon from which people put new improvement proposes in response to their needs.

3.- CELEBRATE: We ‘celebrate’ the place, as a public space that aspires to be safer, funnier and more accessible.
