Seminar Ciudad Sensible

In 2013, within the group Carpe Vía, managed and organized the conferences of CIUDAD SENSIBLE: NEW FORMS OF CITY IN THE INTERNET AGE. During these conferences, consisting of a series of lectures and a practical workshop, we experienced how the contemporary city is living a complex process in which social relationships and urban vitality are getting more and more strained and fragmented.

In this context, hand in hand with the digital revolution, we attend to the birth of new dynamics in the way of making cities with roots in network culture (creative commons, commons, open source, do it yourself…) which results in a more democratic and participative city model. More active. More sentient.During the sessions, we study and implement the concept of Sentient City as a city that promotes communication among citizens, enhances the Collective Intelligence processes and respect for commons; it takes advantage of the growing communication capabilities of citizens in order to change the way they experience the physical space.Using digital technologies on public space can be a way to develop new communication and relation dynamics among neighbours, getting therefore a much stronger local-identity sense and more participative and democratic spaces.
